What support am I likely to get

The amount of help which you may receive from Access to Work will vary depending on how long you have been employed, what support you need and whether you are self-employed.

For a dyslexic individual

Support normally consists of assistive technology and support workers.

For assistive technology this could be:

  • Voice activated software
  • Screen readers
  • Specialist spellcheckers
  • Personal organisers
  • Concept mapping software
  • Digital dictaphones
  • And much more

For support workers this could be:

  • Admin support
  • Workplace mentors
  • Communicator support at interview

It is likely, as dyslexia can affect people to varying degrees that the access to work adviser will arrange to have your needs assessed by technical assessor at your workplace. The support you receive will be based upon this report.
