Dyslexia Awareness - who is this course for?

This course is open to anyone who feels they may benefit from learning more about dyslexia. No prior qualifications are needed. You may be:

  • A Parent or gaurdian of a dyslexic child who wishes to understand the problems your child is having.
  • An organisation looking for continuing professional development for your employees.
  • Anybody who is in the situation of trying to support a dyslexic child and would like to know what to do for the best.

    What will people learn from the course?

  • Understand what dyslexia is.
  • Recognise the effect of dyslexia on the individual.
  • Understand educational interventions that are currently available.
  • Recognise coping strategies that are used by dyslexics.

    How long does the course run for?

    The course will run for one full day.

    What kind of teaching methods are used?

    The teaching will be very focused and the tutor is a dyslexia specialist, so students can be safe in the knowledge that the teaching and support they receive is of the best quality.

    How is this course assessed?

    The course is assessed by learners completing a coursebook during the days training. This work then provides the evidence for accreditation. The workbook will be retuned to the learner after accreditation so it can be used as a source of information about dyslexia. If the learner complets the workbook to an acceptable standard and hands it in at the end of the day the Indigo Dyslexia Centre will obtain accreditation at level 1 with the National Open College Network for you.

    How much does the course cost?

    The course cost is £100.

    Where is this course held?

    This course is run on a regular basis at the Indigo Dyslexia Centre in central Norwich. However, if an organisation is able to put together a suitable number of learners, this course can be run at your location at a time to suit you.
