Individual tuition Numeracy - who is this service meant for?

This assistance is availible to anyone who has a need to improve their numeracy skills.

You may be:

  • An adult who is increasingly facing the need to deal with numeracy or figurework, perhaps because of promotion or a new job.
  • A student who is starting or about to start a higher level course of study.
  • A child who is struggling in school and whose parents wish to provide additional support for them.
  • An older individual, who wants to improve their mathematical skills, but has always found it hard, due to a lack of assistance.
  • A learner of any age who is concerned over impending exams or tests. Someone who is in need of revision help for example in GCSEs or A-Levels

    This list is given as a guide but it is no means exhaustive!

    How do I know if this service is suitable for me or my child?

    The first one hour session is offered completely free of charge. This consists of a litteracy and numeracy screening process and identification of the exact needs of the client. An individual learning programme can then be agreed.

    How long are the sessions and when are they held?

    The sessions are normally one hour in length and held at the Indigo Dyslexia Centre, continuing for as long as the client feels is necessary. Times to suit the client during the day and evenings can be arranged.

    What kind of teaching methods are used?

    As we are all individuals with our own particular ways of learning, the teaching methods will be tailored to the clients personal ways of taking in information. The aim is to make the learning process enjoyable and especially for children - fun!

    How will I be able to judge if the tuition is helping me?

    A process of ongoing assesment will be used, so that the student (as well as the teacher) will be able to plainly observe the progress made.

    How much does it cost?

    Tuition is £30 per hour.
